Evaluation: Question 3
What Kind of Media Institution Might Distribute your Media Product and Why?
An institution is a society or organization that has been founded for a religious, educational, social, or something of a similar purpose. There are a variety of key media magazine institutions in the UK, such as: IPC Media (leading consumer magazine and digital publishers) who publish magazines such as Now and LOOK, Emap-who were later split and sold and H Bauer who are one of the largest publishing companies in Europe (they have over 300 magazines in 15 different countries).

I think that the BBC media
institution would be an appropriate institution to distribute my magazine
because they also publish ‘Top of The Pops’ music magazine which targets a
similar social group to mine and it is the same genre as my magazine. I think
it would also be beneficial as the BBC are broadly popular and are well known;
many young people are aware of the BBC and read/watch their shows and
magazines. Therefore my magazine could also be beneficial to them as it will
attract younger people to their institution
. BBC
This consumer also has radio stations; Radio 1 targets an audience similar to my age range. This would benefit my magazine as music would be played on that station that would be reflected in my magazine.
I chose this institution over the others, due to it being more recogisable and mainstream. It would target a larger audience and the BBC is better known by people.
My magazine could be extended into different areas of the media, such as: having an online website which could include more content such as track playlists which could be played aloud. Also it could provide a basis for a new radio station or radio show, blog or maybe even a live television show. It could also be related to a countdown on music channels for digital or sky viewers.
Here are some statistics for people who view the BBC online:

Time Management Update
From referring back to the time schedule, my blog is up to date with my final page designs and screenshots showing the development of each page of my magazine. I now need to work on finishing my draft evaluation by next lesson.
